PostPost subject: Lama V4 Stripped Drive Gears

Not long after buying the Lama V4 I replaced the upper Blade Head (A) with a metal one, because the Lower Head (B) was still almost new I decided not to replace it until there was something wrong with it. The reason for replacing the (A) Head was to get captive head a stop the Balance Bar flying off all the time. The copter flew well after the conversion and I had not problems until recently.

Last weekend I went to fly it and couldn't achieve lift off due to lack of rotor speed, I pulled it down and found the the teeth were completly stripped off the upper rotor drive gear and about 20% gone from the lower drive gear, I have new drive gears on the way no problems, and I intend to do the full upgrade this time.

As I didn't prang it the last time I flew it, it leaves me to ponder why they stripped ?

Was it caused by a weight differential between the two Head Sets ?
Are the Aluminium heads causing undue stain on the drive gears ?
Is stripping the drive gears a common problem with LAMA V4's ?
Would I be better to go back to the original plastic heads ?

I welcome any comment that would point me in the right direction.

Sorry to be blunt I had the LamaV4 and the only thing I had with it was grief.

My suggestion to you is get one of the Eflite Coaxials.

I chose the Blade mCX flew it hundreds of times and broke the flybar holder once. Cost was 6 Dollars and took 2 minutes and that is it.

It is so small and light 28 gr(1 oz) that it causes no damage to itself or other staff when it crashes.

have fun Very Happy

No contest with that ZVOK I have a CX2 and a MCX, but to be fair to the V4 it has been good up to this point in time except for the balance bar thing. Just looking to call on others experiences to see if I can stop it happening again.

How about your V4 now? It's my favorite bird.
