|

Hello again, after reading a lot I got the idea that i need to tweak my Big lama a bit... i bought the metal upgrade (and will get the extended shaft as suggested by some users in here)i bought some 3d pro blades (for durability), now i am considering getting brushless motors (not for performance but i heard they last longer and runs cool even if used all day)....and i want to know your opinion...
And then i ended up on ebay and found this
http://cgi.ebay.com/XTREME-ESKY-BIG-LAMA-CARBON-FIBRE-MAIN-FRAME-UPGRADE-/150588475477?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item230fc5c855#ht_1596wt_1274
do you guys think it is a nice thing??? again i am looking at strength more than performance.... and i guess carbon fiber is very sturdy.... any thoughts?? is it worthed??
Thanks |

Well Xtreme does make great upgrades, and that frame looks like a work of art.
But I would be hard-pressed to spend that kind of money for one upgrade on a co-axial. It might save you money in the long run if you break the stock frame constantly, but I would rather put that money towards a new, more advanced heli. |

Ok today i fitted the metal upgrade (didn't think i could make it by myself) and after struggling with the small screw to remove the inner shaft i managed to complete the operation.... but i still have some questions... is there a way to know if everything is in place (without flying )?
I mean how to i know i did not screw anything up??
At the end i finished with a big lama with metal upgrade and 3d pro blade... looking to get an extended shaft soon... the last mod to this Heli... (next on the schedule the v200d01 i bought!!! but of course who is helping me already knows it )
A big thanks to this community...and attached a pic of my Heli

It looks good to me; I would just go for a slow spool-up, then check everything. If everything looks fine go for a low-altitude test hover then check it over again.
Co-axials have very low head-speeds so I doubt a loose screw or whatever you're worried about would cause any damage to the heli anyway.
Also, if you haven't already, you might want to get some blue Loctite for any screws that contact metal to keep them from backing-out over time from vibration. |

Well i am more worried about a misaligned servo (if that is what it is called..) than screws... (i use nail polish for screws it works pretty well as tightener ...and it you apply some force... it'll let go easily).
Thanks again Nick!!

Hi yabeweb,
You are probably already flying happily along but for the sake of other readers the following:-
After such a conversion, all the couplings swash plate, flybar, etc must be checked for alignment. Proportional and gain settings may also need some attention. Also check blade balances.
First lift the heli easily of the ground just to make sure there isn't and funnies going on. After that final adjustment and checking should be done in a zero wind condition and preferably more than 2 metres of the ground to avoid any ground effect and wind reflections. |
