A belt-driven helicopter is superior in that it is able to hold its tail steady much much longer. In a belt-driven helicopter, the tail rotor changes pitch and is controlled by a servo whereas in a mini-rotor tail driven holds the tail by changing the RPM. Because of this, once the mini-tail motor heats up, its ability to hold the tail steady will diminish.

There are not much difference between a tail-driven heli and shaft-driven heli. At least, not that I know of.

One minor difference will be in crash damage. Bend up a tail boom in a crash with a belt drive and you'll most likely just need to replace the boom. In a shaft driven tail (torque tube) lots more parts will break = more $$.
But these things rarely ever crash, right Rolling Eyes
