|
|
I am trying to locate the older JR SSS Tx + Rx crystals for 35Mhz.
Prior to 1985, JR had their own Crystals that were offset by 2.5Khz compred to other systems. They used intermediate frequency 457.5Khz not 455Khz ....
In the mid 1986 when JR changed to 455Khz to fall into line with PCM bandwidth usage with other manufacturers... means I must have the older type to work in my JR SSS Propo.
Does anyone have such crystals or know of location ? McGregor in UK who are JR importers have none ... |

I'm searching as well !!
It's a choice of modify case to take 2.4Ghz module or stay with the 35Mhz ...
It's a beaut of a radio even though it's not computerised.

no prob ....
Probably going to have to shleve the gear or swap out the module to 2.4Ghz ..............
The FrSky module is suitable with slight modification to the metal back case. |

That'd be cool to install a 2.4gHz module in it. Old-school vintage looks with modern technology inside; isn't that basically the definition of steampunk? |

Jr Technical themselves say that module design has not changed and that it will work.
The radio is my old 1980's job that i used for display flying and was the Rolls royce of gear then ... 8ch, with mixing / all sorts before computerised took over.
It has a special place with me and would be really nice to have it in use again. I sent it to JR Tech guy in UK to check over / service and he gave it a new lease of life. It's heavy Tx ... real electronics packed inside ! But the stick feel and balance is spot on. Sadly since then the xtals have apparently failed.
The FrSky 2.4Ghz module will fit but needs a slight mod to the metal back of the case. It's a few thou too tight and a file of the edge would be enough. I tried it without case back and the pins are slightly out and contact needs sorting. But i don't think it a big job.
Lets see what comes from my enquiries ... I must admit it's not for Heli ... its for Fixed wing even though I used to fly my nitro Heli on it in the 80's. |
