PostPost subject: Thunder AC6 Dual Power Charger
Reply with quote

Hi to all.
I have a problem w/ my Thunder AC6. It is a new charger w/ only 6 or 7
batteries charged on it. I was happily reading the form with a beer in one hand & a mouse in the other.
I was charging a battery for my 120 SR ( battery is 500mah-3.7V-12C
at 0.5 amps. the buzzer sounded that the batt. was charged.
I pressed the stop button & was going to charge another batt. but the display did not show any numbers only blank boxes where numbers or
letters should be.Has anybody had this happen to them ?
I have pushed all the buttons but nothing will show up on the display.
All help will be appreciated
Cheers
Mike

I don't have this charger - but I sounds to me like the power supply is off/disconnected/burnt out. Do you have 12V I/P from the rectifier?

Tom.

Yep that will happen at times. Just turn it off and then back on. She will be fine.

Sometimes mine will not display anyting funny lines and stuff? what's that. I turn it off and back on and it's fine. It's a good charger. I love mine and use it almost every day for something.

Let us know what happens.

Jack

Thanks Tom & Jack
Yesterday i i turned it on & off several times but nothing changed.
Tried it again this morning but still the same thing. there is also no
voltage from the leads. There was never any smoke or smell to indicate
over heating/shorts etc. I can't remember where i bought it from.
I'll have a look in side when i get a little more time.
Cheers.

Tom. Swash leveler & ball link pliers along w/ some spares are on the
way from Hobby King

That does not sound very good. I think you may have a fuse problem I hope. You might try using the auto battery plug hookup and see if it works with the car battery. Different power source. Might tell us something. The Thunder AC6 is a great battery charger? Never heard of a problems with them?

Hi Jack.
A little more not so good luck. The batt connector that came w/ charger
is the wrong size & won't fit.
I'm off to the pistol range for the rest of the afternoon, i'll have a look
for a connector that fits when i get back around Miller Time.
I presume the pin connector is positive +.
Thanks Jack

Hi Mike,

Usually the center pin is +ve (except on Tx chargers) but there is no guarantee of this.

Hi Guys.
During the last week i must have powered up the charger & always the same thing, just a blue screen w/ no numbers & letters.
So this morning i clicked onto HeliPartz.com to give them a call w/ my problem. I plugged in the charge so i could explain exactly what the screen
looked like. Well the SOB went beep & there was the the screen with the set up for a single cell batt i was charging when it went it Sh itself on me
a couple of weeks ago. I have charged 4 batt this afternoon with out a
glitch.
I had also ordered another charger (same Kind) which should be in the mail
any day now. Nothing like having a spare charger in your kick.
Hi Tom
Swash leveler & ball pliers not arrived as yet.
The weather has been the absolute shits here, not good for choppers

Hi Mike.
I'm still around, Bl 450 is still as new with the main rotors tide to the tail, just lifted it out of the box and been sitting that way, just waiting for warmer weather, 120 sr is in good shape also.
Have not had any snow what so ever for weeks hard to beleave for february nd no rain but lots of sunshine.
I was looking at the Thunder AC6 charger and think I will take your advice and get one. Seen a lot of good reports on it.
All the best from the prairies.
Richard.

Richard.
The thunder AC6 does not have a charge cable with the right connection
for your B 450. you will have to order that separate. It has the right
connection for your 120 SR

Hi Mike.
It's going back a bit on the posts, I had problem with my AC6 charger also about 3 weeks ago, I was charging a 800mah battery that had a JST plug The JST cable fried and I almost burt myself, Guess it's thrue what they say "never walk away from a charging battery. Any how called the company with my story they said they would senf me a whole new set of cables, cables never came so made another call now things had changed They will now send one cable(the one that fried) Still no cable, this was the end of march.
Doing fine on the HK 450 kit thanks to all that has helped me on here, Getting ready to setup the servos now, and still learning.
Richard
