v4 vs upgraded v4 vs big lama - performance diffs?

I have a stock big lama I am learning on. I'd like to move up eventually to an eFlite 400 cp heli (long term goal).

I can pick up a V4 w/ extreme upgrades, bb motors, and the like for a decent price. This would allow me more stick time as I can fly it inside and do more than hover or scoot about in a tiny circle.

Will it challenge me? Will it help advance my skills?

The V4 is smaller than a big lama so that should make it 'harder' to fly, right? (more challenging)

How much different does it fly with the upgraded parts (bearing set, heads, shafts, alum swash, BBm otors, adj fly bar) than a stock bird? What changes (faster response in flight or just faster flight?)
