Hey I'm newly into electric helis and bought an mcpx with a dx6i. In was just wondering if everyone uses the settings located in the mcpx manual or if anyone's found better ones? Also, if anything needs to be adjusted besides the settings shown in the manual?

Thanks for replies

Welcome hmcclung. I just made a similar post, as I have the
MCPX on the way. I`m sure someone will chime in here.
I know Nickonelove has the MCPX, but I`m pretty certain
He uses the DX-8. Please add Your location to Your profile.
We ask everyone to do this, cuz it`s nice to know where
you are when offering advice. Have fun here,
Scott Cool

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to leaning and getting more into rc helis. I'm currently in a VA hospital recovering from combat wounds I received in Afghanistan and thought it was a perfect time to get into a new hobby that I can manage in with my current disabilities.

Hi Guys
I've had the MCP X three weeks now & am having a ball.
As the link below states the MCPX has way to much negative pitch
and very little positive pitch. I think you will find this link quite helpful.

First i would like to thank you for protecting us all. I hope your recovery is swift. I recently bought the Blade MCPX I also have a DX6i. I followed the setup and it seems to work well. My only issue is that I feel it is a little aggressive for indoor flight. I only fly indoors I wanted the extra power of the MCPX just for the option. I would like to see a setup tailored for someone who would like to fly indoors and as stress free as possible. The MCPX is a major, major, step up from the MSR I flew. The MSR felt more like a toy after awhile it got kind of boring. Once the MCPX is trimmed out it is pretty impressive. I order a few upgrades already. I decided to goto a brushless system, I did the mod for the rubber shock absorbers on the swashplate, I order a upgraded tail (more power and length), and a few battery packs with alittle more juice.

The mcpx can be tamed the same as any c/p heli by using the dual rates and expo in the tx. Try a dual rate of 80% and add +20% expo as a start and alter it to suit your own requirement. You could also have a less aggresive pitch curve. I dont think you would need it up to 100% for indoors. You could have seperate settings for indoors and outdoors.

Hi hmcclung,

As a fellow exserviceman (vet?) welcome to the forum. Can't help you with the MCPX but any exserviceman is a friend of mine.

Tom.

Hi chopper54,

I will give your settings a try. Thank you for your post. Yes I agree def don't have to run 100% for indoors. I catch myself sometimes using the extra power to get out of some trouble.

Hoooaah!! Thank you hmcclung for your service my friend and hang in there. The Lord loves a Soldier. I too am new to this hobby but learning. I got the MCPX in the mail today. Charging the batteries right now. Might take a while. It came with 7 batteries. The two 200 mah ones and a bonus pack with 5 Tenergy 250 mah batteries. I've done the binding process but it's raining so I cant go out and test fly it. I used the settings from the book for the DX6i but have seen a few videos on youtube that recomends setting the elev and ailer at a different rate to make it a little more docile. I'm going with choppers advice but was wondering will that make the stick movements a little less sensitive also? I think I need that. Thanks all.

Well I couldn't stand it I had to try and do a test hover in my living room. Using the settings from the manual. The MCPX is pretty easy to hover. Surprised the heck out of me. But it sets down harder than it should. It has a little bit of negative pitch when I close the throttle and sets down harder than I think it should. But it hovers nice. I like it. I think I'm getting the DX6i figured out. Not a 100% but I'm learning. I set the pitch curve according to the manual, should I do something different? I'll go check out the link skypuncher posted and see what does. Thanks for the help all.
Tom

I went to the site skypuncher posted. Has anyone else tried that. I can't go out so I can't really test anything. Bummer.

Hi Tom from SC.
When i got my MCPX there was very little positive pitch & a bunch of
negative pitch that would put your ass in the ground real quick. i set up using this link http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10450757/printable.htm
That sure made the little bird much sweeter to handle in close quarters. &
also with enough pos. pitch it was quite good in the wind.
Happy flying
Mike

Hi Mike, thats the same guy. I went ahead and set mine up like that also. Can't go out and test it yet and tomorrow it's suppose to rain all day. Bummer. Maybe I'll get a little clearing. Which blades did you use. Mine came with two sets. One has small bullet like weights on the leading edge.
