What do you mean troubled Spektrum dX8 ? I just bought one of the buggers.... |
Hi Mackers,
If you have one of those PID's you will need to send it in or not upgrade it to above firmware version 1.04, the moment I upgraded mine the problem of loosing bind mid flight started, I returned it to the Australian agent in april and they said there was nothing wrong and returned it, now they have admitted that there is a problem and apparently fixed it.
Apparently the problem is (Poor product testing) an incompatability between the basic input output system (BIOS) and the later firmware, I loved the DX8 before the problem started, hope it all fixed now, it will take a while to restore my confidence in it though. |

Thanks for your info brother, with the SD card is it possible to download settings for a particular heli .say T-rex 450 from the web? I am new to this hobby as you can tell ,but I am enthralled by the engineering of the ALIGN products,I work fixing Boeing 747s and the quality is just as good in the model helicopter as on the big birds!

Mackers, I would not recomend downloading any settings for your heli at all, ever. You can use the basic settings to get a heli off the ground, but in the end you have to program it to your flying style and your power setup.
If I setup a 450 for me and then gave you the settings so you could use them for yours, you would wonder how in the world I fly at all.
What works for me may not work for you.
We can suggest some basic setups so the heli won't be a twitchy monster, but it's just a starting point. |

Hi Mackers,
I agree with Crash, I have downloaded three setups but the only one that worked completely from the download was the mCP X from the Spektrum community site, the other two a had to be totaly rejigged to get them working properly you are better off starting from scratch there will be no nasty surprises that way.
I do recommend the "Ultimate Guide to the Spektrum DX8" it is much easier to understand than the DX8 manual. |

Hi Admiral,
just received the Dx8 guide , very imformative, as you said much better than the manual.
Also purchased the pheonix flight sim , now Im all set ,just waiting on a redundacy package from Qantas avalon and I will start the build of the Trex 450. I still marvel at the engineering of this kit , I fix 747s for a crust
and the quality is comparable with aerospace products.
Thanks to you and other members for all the advice.
Regards Mackers |
